Apple Picking

Last week was Autumn Vacation here in Denmark.  I lovelovelove these mini-breaks throughout the year -- it's rest and ease and mental health.

We went apple picking in a town called Greve with some friends:

My friend not only drove me there, she pulled the cart ;-)......I have been so fortunate in my sweet, helpful friends.

There were three kinds of apples ready for self-pick the day we were there:

We chose Elstar:

And Ingrid Marie:

Look at that deep, rich magenta.....they hung like clusters of cherries from the tree.

Mmmmm.....two buckets for each family.   Enough to share, enough to freeze, enough to enjoy.

Plus, there were pumpkins for us on the way out.....

.....so we brought home a couple of those, as well.

Color is just never so rich as in the Autumn.

Wow...really beautiful apples..(And how well behaved Danish deer are to stay in their deer park and leave apples for the people that grew them...please find out how Denmark does this :)
