Fields and Flowers

We only have a few more weeks with our bikes, so we're trying to make the most of it.  

We went on an after-school ride to a pond a few miles away.  We are sooooooooo fortunate to have this nice trail, leading right to it. 

Eliza had hopes of a dinner-picnic on the ride, but that was a little too ambitious for me this week. 

I managed a box of crackers and fruit.  

WHICH they partially fed to the Canada Geese at the lake......

.....how fortunate I declined to bring the five-course dinner picnic, then.  ha ha!

Stopping at the bridge is one of my favorite points on the ride.....

.....the water sounds so nice.  It reminds me of home. 

But, there is also an INTERACTIVE type bridge on this trail crossing the stream....

.....Eliza thought this was big fun.  Usually Alistair carries her bike across, but Ian said she had to try it herself this time.  She jumped right onto those path stones!

The fields along the way are full of tiny wildflowers, and we got some close to the path....

....for the little BIKE VASE ;-) Eliza has on her handlebars.  Priorities. 

In the woods, the sun was making that light-speckled glow that makes you think Bambi is just going to walk out at any minute. 

It's hard to get that on a photo.  

We saw a fox, though....twice....or maybe it was more than one fox?   Not sure.    It's also hard to get that on a photo.
